This workshop will focus on protecting and nourishing our heart (cardio) health through diet, lifestyle, and yoga.
Cardiovascular health includes coronary heart disease, atherosclerosis, low blood pressure/ hypotension, high blood pressure / hypertension, angina, arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, thrombosis, embolism, and myocardial infarction. According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular diseases is the leading cause of death in both men and women and is largely a result of modern day diet and lifestyle. Recent studies have shown that people with cardiovascular disease can lower their risk of recurring cardiac episodes if they make changes in their diet and learn to manage stress.
We will explore yogic breathing practices, meditation, and moving postures to release tension and stress, invite lifestyle changes, and learn nutritional concepts that will support a healthy heart.
